Discussion post: Miley music edition
Good evening , AD.
Hope everyone is having a #GLORIOUS (© Johnzo West) Monday!
I think it's about time that we all come together for what I am hoping and praying will be a civilized conversation amongst us all.
It's been a while since we've had any form of thoughtful communication with each other, and in these lines, vines, and trying times (© Nick Jonas) I figured we could all use a good topic of discussion.
So of what topic will we be conversing? If for some reason you chose not to read the title of this post, or if the big, bold letters distracted you, this will be a Miley music post. No, we are not talking about Meet Miley Cyrus, Breakout, Time Of Our Lives, or Can't Be Tamed. It is especially time to move forward from CBT. Let it go. Now, let us discuss her next album direction...

First off I would like to start out by saying this: POP? Again?
Now I should probably clarify the kind of pop that I'm so obviously against. I'm sure we've all heard from certain sources~ or word of mouth that our lovely little Princess is looking to go in a specific direction with her next album.. Much like that of two widely known and successful female musicians. A direction that I personally am not too fond of seeing her go in specifically because:
A) Miley has said numerous times during her CBT era she doesn't want her next album to be a "Pop" album. (If you didn't quite get what kind of Pop she meant, turn on the radio or look in the top 10 on Itunes and you will catch the hint tbh.)
B) We all know that her CBT image did not pass over well in the media and I don't think any of us are here for her getting crucified anymore than she already has... and is.
Party In The USA obviously sprouted a lot of popularity and growth in regards to Miley's music career. But in the end I feel it was both a blessing and a curse for her. A blessing because... Who doesn't love PITUSA? I mean let's be real. But it's a curse, imo, because it obviously was a direction she never fully intended to go in and her record label clearly capitalized on the succes of the song because she had to go back and re-record most of CBT to fit a Pop image.
Now we all know the kind of music Miley listens to, what she likes, what she doesn't like, etc. We can predict her without her having to say anything herself. I'm sure you could ask her who the superior, flawless, truly talented One Direction is... or the inferior, useless, no1curss The (un)Wanted is, and unless Noah has been ranting and raving about either one of those said groups, Miley and her hipster fr
Miley is not a Britney. She's not an Xtina. She's not a Beyonce. She's not a Katy Perry. She's not a Gaga. She's not Rihanna. She's not a Diva. She's not any of those women, imo. I'm not throwing shade at all because.. first and foremost, we all know how much I love Xtina & I wouldn't diss my queen, and secondly all of those women are hugely successful in their own right. What I'm saying is.. I don't understand why people choose to categorize her amongst such women, or even WANT her to be in that category or dabble in those areas when it's just not her, and on top of that we all know the media is 50x harder on Miley than they are on any of her peers. Most importantly, it's not what Miley wants.
Ever heard of Sheryl Crow? Lee Ann Womack? Alanis Morissette? Ashlee Simpson? Even Nelly Furtado during her Folklore era? Yeah... that is where Miley belongs, imo. Do you catch my drift?
& Honestly, I feel like she would slay this song
Just... Think of how critically appraised "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go" was.
Think of songs like The Driveway, Two More Lonely People, My Heart Beats for Love, Obsessed, etc.
Then think of how critically slaughtered "Can't Be Tamed" was, about how she only garnered negative attention from that album off of 2 songs and that was because of her image.
I should say that I am not opposed to her doing Pop music. It's just I don't want her to fall into that same place of just releasing non-sensical music just because it's catchy and it sells, because she won't get praised for it. I mean, lol, lbr. Unless it's PITUSA part deux, it won't happen. She has talent and Lonesome proved that. She should showcase that talent and prove to people that she actually can sing.
SO, AD, what are your opinions? Where do you think she should go with her next album? Producers she should work with? etc... I wanna know.
