flawless icon!
astorpl 26th-Apr-2012 02:18 am (UTC)
i love how it's opening in like 2 weeks but they haven't even shown a trailer. i just don't GET why lionsgate (and hollywood records) hate miley's stuff. it's so frustrating beyond words. why did lionsgate pick it up anyway? i'd rather it of went with a more indie company but got a bit more press/buzz. it's like so weird how mileys recent movies/music have been like ignored. it's such an awkward situation. i don't think it even makes sense? & miley looks so cute lately i'd love to see her promoting
pseudovirus 26th-Apr-2012 02:25 am (UTC)
change in management or something? they seemed really excited about it when they first picked it up in 2010
" In a statement released at the time, Lionsgate's then-production president, Allie Shearmur, described it as "the kind of smart, fresh and accessible comedy that ... is a great fit for Lionsgate's release slate." they have had at least one change in production presidents since then, which means changes in scheduling/priorities/budgeting/etc

lionsgate is also in a TON of debt right now, and even the profits they've made from THG so far don't cover that debt; they won't be in the black until breaking dawn pt 2 comes out at the end of this year. so they're focusing on things they think will do the best commercially (obviously THG, which is understandable)... and instead of focusing on a project w/ two big stars that could be a ~fun teen hit~, they're funneling what little funds they have into cameron diaz's latest flop. w/e lionsgate, w/e.

this is actually more common that most of us would think (movies sitting on the shelf for years), just more of us are becoming aware of it b/c i think most of miley's fans were really excited about this movie for a long time. and after almost 2 years of BS, we're just like.... ugh

it's sad how much lionsgate is setting this up to fail

apparently it was in miley/demi's contracts to have this open in at least 100 theaters. well, they found theaters... in the middle of BFE
astorpl 26th-Apr-2012 02:19 am (UTC)
yeah like why even take the movie on if your gunna treat it this way? it's wasting everyones time. they could've at least tried a little bit harder
talklikelions 26th-Apr-2012 02:20 am (UTC)
smh at living in Waco where it would never show. ugh.
sundiamonds 26th-Apr-2012 02:21 am (UTC)
That awkward moment when the movie was filmed in Michigan and it's not even getting realized here...
pseudovirus 26th-Apr-2012 02:27 am (UTC)

so many people i know who worked on the movie (including myself), ppl who aren't even fans of miley, are pissed bc like.. we worked hard on it, we wanna see it :/ i feel bad for the crew and people who worked on it for months especially. i only spent like 3 days on set so i shouldn't be bitching but ugh i'm gonna fucking bitch.
hiddenfantasyx 26th-Apr-2012 02:23 am (UTC)
lol it will flop harder than TLS
the haters will eat her alive
pseudovirus 26th-Apr-2012 02:31 am (UTC)
they can't really say it's flopping when it's only beeing released in 7 cities

and according to my google alerts, most places seem to know about lionsgate's priority shfit/shafting miley. but who knows, they love to turn every story on her so i'm sure this getting crushed by the avengers (obvious prediction is obvious lol, that movie is more anticipated than the freaking dark knight rises ffs)... ugh just the fact of it being up against the avengers guarantees a flop. i *think* most of the articles written that weekend will focus on whatever records the avengers breaks, hopefully, and this will just slide under the radar. unless it somehow gets a really high $$$/theater average, which would lead to an expansion... otherwise i'm assuming most convos and blogs will be like, 'oh a movie that was set up by its distributor to flopped actually flopped? ok but OMG how awesome was the avengers!!! avengers avengers avengers!'
lipsthatpray 26th-Apr-2012 02:32 am (UTC)
lmao utah? provo freaking utah? this is cracking me up because i lived there for three years and lol is not going to be accepted there
pseudovirus 26th-Apr-2012 02:37 am (UTC)
lmfao exactly, they're so obviously setting this up to fail that it's frankly ridiculous
gcmoffmoorex 26th-Apr-2012 02:33 am (UTC)
No SoCal at all?! I thought it would at least come out in Irvine since they usually play indie/small films at the UCI theater...
change13 26th-Apr-2012 02:33 am (UTC)
What about Canada?
pseudovirus 26th-Apr-2012 02:38 am (UTC)
different distributor idk
whatamootpoint 26th-Apr-2012 02:33 am (UTC)
Um, at least get it into one city in each state. Like why is it so condensed in just these states
playcrackthesky 26th-Apr-2012 02:40 am (UTC)
No Michigan?! wtf. I was actually excited for this movie too
dreamcomealive 26th-Apr-2012 02:44 am (UTC)
